Confession

As believers, our salvation is eternally secure because of the perfect work of Jesus. Even though sin cannot threaten his work on our behalf, our sin creates a barrier between us and the Lord, which interrupts our fellowship with Him. This is why we need to confess our sins.

Our national sins may seem that they belong to someone besides us, but we know that they are the reason for our country’s current condition. Our problem isn’t a political one, it is a spiritual one.

"He who covers his transgressions will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy." (Proverbs 28:13)

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)

Take some time to be specific.

We need to take the time, crying out to God, confessing our national sins to Him. Some of those include:

Racism
Injustice
Greed
Abuse
Immorality (many different kinds)
Pride
Anger
Politics

These aren’t the only ones. What sins do we need to confess and ask forgiveness for?
