LEADER GUIDE

THANK YOU

This class is so important! Thank you for being willing to step out and lead people in a deeper and more consistent walk with Christ.

Leading this class should be simple and fun. There are four videos, between which you will discuss and direct a little bit. The key is to have fun! Let everyone talk! DO NOT dominate the discussion! The teaching is done via video, so all you should have to do is facilitate response.

Our staff will handle setup of everything you should need. Video, microphone, chair, stand. Jeff Parker will have someone to do the tech aspect. You are not the tech person. You are the conversation facilitator.

INTRODUCTION

The introduction is a good time for you to set the tone for your group, make them feel comfortable and at home. Here's what to do:

Video 1 Discussion

Spiritual growth unlock key: REPENTANCE

Why don't we good Americans like this terminology?

How does this go against our sense of independence?

Discuss independence vs. submission to God

Not just for "day one." You don't "repent," then you 're done... This is a lifelong pattern. Explain.

How does this work?
"Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. "
-Romans 12:2

how long do you think this change takes

What is your role in this process?

Video 2 Discussion

The illustration of Baptism as a picture (wedding ring)... Discuss baptism as a symbol, rather than something you have to do to earn your status with God.

"God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it."
-Ephesians 2:8-9

Leader, tell your baptism story.

Ask their baptism story.

This is the FIRST YES... The first step of obedience for any believer. If so, why do you and I know people who wear the title "Christ follower," yet refuse to take this very first step in following?

What questions do you have about baptism?
(we will cover logistics later.. time, clothing, process, etc.)

Who here needs to say this first "YES?"

(this would be a good time to get them to sign up solidly for the upcoming Baptism.)

Video 3 Discussion

Of course, these three things are not the ONLY way to grow, but they ARE predictable, patternable ways to grow.

Work the individual spiritual growth plan on page 9 in their booklet.

Video 4 Testimony Writing

Connect class-takers with testimony coaches and give them space to work.

Make sure everyone gets an appointment set for recording their video testimony.

Again, thank everyone. Make sure they know you are excited to see them be baptized.
